Hard to believe, but it’s true.
I recently bumped into yet another story about getting out of debt. It’s a story of Bernadette Joy.
I’m not a financial expert and I’m not sure if her story makes sense, but I found Forbes and CNBC giving her credit for her accomplishments.
So, how did she manage to pay off $300,000 of her debt? In 3 years?
- First, she had a job, a high-paying job. This means that if you want to get out of debt, you first need some kind of regular income. The higher-paying job, the better. You should get the best possible job that you can get according to your skills and knowledge. Many times people are trying to start a business or a side hustle and believe a regular job would only hinder their attempts of making their entrepreneurial endeavors successful. But before your idea takes off and starts bringing in a viable income, you need a job to cover your everyday and monthly expenses.
- She started a side hustle. She first focused on repaying $72,000 in student loans. She figured, if she wanted to pay off $72,000 in two years, that would be $36,000 a year, antd that meant $3,000 a month, $750 a week. Her aim was to make $100 or more a day, which would be sufficient to cover her $750 a week plan. Mortgages, credit card bills, and student loans totalled $300,000, and…
