How Did Dogecoin Go From Joke To Serious?
The coin created as a joke was at one point worth more than some oil companies in market value, but then plummeted by more than 70%, only to rise again.
Who can forget Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, having fun with Baby Doge on his Twitter account? The billionaire did not skimp on memes or on the dissemination of the meme currency.
Baby Doge is not the same as Dogecoin (DOGE). It is an offspring of DOGE, and it is a testament to DOGE’s expansion and development. Musk’s funny Baby Doge tweet reflects the playful manner in which he often pours out his ideas and thoughts.
DOGE itself started as a joke. It was inspired by an internet meme of a Shiba Inu dog, with a look that ranges from scared to impressed. At the time, the coin was worth less than dollar’s cents.
Billionaire Elon Musk certainly liked his crypto jokes. He gave popularity to the coin on his Twitter account. From there, Dogecoin went from $0.0052 at the beginning of 2021 to $0.721 in May 2021. The return was almost 14,000%, which has generated millionaires overnight.
